Pua Sketch [Moana]

We're a bit Moana-mad in our household. No, we don't have any children... But who can resist songs as catchy as "You're Welcome" and characters as adorable as Pua the pig?! Not us, that's for sure. Though personally I'm more of the village crazy lady!

Anyway, when deciding on a Birthday card for my husband I couldn't resist doing a little sketch of Pua for him. I drew it in 2B, which is basically my favourite pencil ever, and added some colour with some very old WHSmith colouring pencils. They still do a good value pack of 36 colouring pencils, but I find my old ones have softer leads.

Winnie the Pooh Comic

If you spend far too much time on the internet, you may have seen this wonderful Winnie the Pooh clip as a series of screenshots. Well, it makes my husband and I laugh out loud every time we see it, so I decided we needed a version in our house!

I began with a pencil sketch, before adding layers of watercolour, and finishing with a black marker. I then added the text using some letter stamps I recently picked up, and a black ink pad. It is currently waiting to be framed!

Alternative Christmas Card || Flopsy & Toffee Sketch

I used to make cards for my husband, for all those events that occur throughout the year. But you know what would happen to them? They'd sit on his desk for a week, before being lost into a pile of "stuff", never to be seen again. And so I started doing something different... I started drawing for him every year, quick sketches which could go in frames and continue to decorate our walls all year round. It's been a win-win for us! This Christmas, his "card" features our gorgeous little bunnies, Flopsy and Toffee...

Can you believe I've nearly finished this sketchbook?! I'm amazed haha. It's my Birthday this week though, and I'm very excited to be getting new sketchbooks to fill with lovely colourfulness :)

Campervan stamp available here.

Texture experiments using acrylic paint (some applied straight from the tube), a ridged tool, and string wrapped around a cardboard tube.

More textural and shape experiments, using cardboard tubes, straws and sticks. I also made a stencil using a circular punch and applied texture medium over it.

Printing using homemade cardboard shapes as stamps.

A Peek Inside My Sketchbook I

For those wondering, the sketchbook is this one from the wonderful Pink Pig Sketchbooks whose sketchbooks I have been using for many years. I've used my standard watercolour and acrylic paints, a variety of felt tips (mainly Stabilo and Berol) and my favourite drawing pen is this, the Pilot Hi-Tecpoint V5 Extra Fine in black, although the V7 can also be useful for larger areas! I've also just bought this, Uniball Paint Marker Extra Fine in white, which I'm currently experimenting with!

Refined Scribble Cards I

If you've been following along on my Facebook page, you will have noticed the progress of these!

It began like my recent piece, The Refinement of the Scribble, with paint being splashed across watercolour paper, however I then cut the paper into sections before I began drawing!

Before finally being mounted ready to be sent to friends who need smiles :)
