I love all the freebies being given away as part of Advent Calendars this December! This freebie came via a group called Kit and Clowder on Facebook. Behind the door of their Advent Calendar yesterday was this gorgeous stamp by Lily of the Valley (who you may have noticed I have been slightly obsessed with lately!) and I just had to colour it in right away. I used my ancient WHSmith pencils because they've got much softer leads than their newer pencils. I used white acrylic paint to add some fluff to the stocking and pom poms, as well as Liquid Pearls White Opal on the stocking trim and a Stickles glitter glue on the pom poms! They look so cute :)

Felt Bunny Ears for Easter!
In a shop the other day, my husband and I found some lovely fluffy bunny ears. The problem? The ones I liked only came attached to small sized headbands. I may have the wishes of a child but my head size is slightly bigger, so I came home and made my own!
These were so quick and easy to make! I simply cut 4 pieces out of brown felt and 2 out of pale pink. I dusted my sewing machine off (I haven't touched it in a while!) and attached the pink inner ears to the brown outer ears. I then placed two of the brown ears together and stitched down one side. I inserted a piece of card (smaller than the felt) inside and stitched back down the other side of the ear. This card gives the ears the strength to stand up! I finished the ends of the ears with a small piece of velcro - the "hook" side - so that they can be folded over any narrow headband! I think next time I'll make this flap a bit longer, but other than that I love them... I may be imagining reindeer antlers and who knows what else for the future!

Crochet Jedi Bunny
When I saw this Amigurumi Bunny in Hoodie pattern over on How to Amigurumi, I knew I had to make one - they're just so cute! I also needed a last minute extra Christmas present for my husband, and realised the pattern could be easily adapted to make a Jedi Bunny.
I mainly crocheted the rabbit as per the pattern, with a small alteration around the join between the tummy and the hoody in order to attach the "skirt" of the robe. I also added a small braided belt and stitched a metal bead on to act as a lightsaber. Have you ever wondered what was under a Jedi's robes? Well I have the answer - cute, fluffy little rabbit tails :D
This pattern worked up really quickly and produced a cute teddy, about the size of my hand. I love that the hood can be taken down, and that the ears pop up through it when it is raised! I hand stitched the details on the face - I find this gives more control over the finished expression than using safety eyes, but that's just my preference. I recommend giving this pattern a try if you love bunnies as much as we do!
May the force (and plenty of carrots) be with you this Christmas!

Bunny Rabbit Birthday Cake - Smudge
It was my Birthday last month! For me, this means a chance to bake something way too over the top to justify at any other time :) This year, I decided on a 3D rabbit... The cake is chocolate, and made using Whisk Kid's amazing recipe. The head was baked in a bowl, the body is three round layers (carved), and the feet and tail are cupcakes. Standard chocolate buttercream and fondant icing... The arms and ears were shaped using "cake truffle", that is a mix of cake crumbs and ganache, as if making cake pops (it tastes AMAZING). The tail is covered in mini marshmallows, and I attached the fondant in pieces so it looks like a stitched teddy. I used my sewing tracing wheel to get the effect! And I merged some coloured fondants to add interest to the paws and ears, using plunger cutters. The whiskers are spaghetti (!), and like Uncle Bulgaria I included a mini cake for candle celebrations, complete with a carrot - well, he is a bunny! And because every rabbit must have a name, he's called Smudge. Lessons learned? Use a fondant smoother - the body looks lumpy; sterilise cake dowels before use so they don't introduce bacteria - d'oh! But, he was very sturdy structurally, and the fondant was easier to work with when I didn't roll it too thin!! The adventures in baking continue...

Crochet Bunny Rabbit Snuggy
Remember my elephant snuggy? Well they may be my new go-to baby gifts... I love that I get to combine the fiddlyness of some amigurumi with the simpleness of putting together a granny square! This was another one that I needed to be gender neutral, and I think the brown balances the purple out nicely.
This bunny was made from a bit of a pattern pick and mix...! I used the same pattern I used for the elephant snuggie for the granny square, the head and the arms. For the ears, I began with this pattern, worked up to row 7. On rows 8, 9 and 10 I decreased 2 stitches on each row (i.e. I decreased 18sc to 12sc over 3 rows). And then the last 4 rows were just 12sc. There was a very specific rabbit-ear-look I wanted! S/he's super cute and I would have happily cuddled him/her myself!

Bunny Bunting [Great for Spring!]
I'm afraid I've been a naughty blogger... Not only have I not posted in over a month, I can't find the source of my original inspiration for this bunny bunting! You will find it in various forms across the internet though :) We are bunny-mad in our household, and when I saw this idea I knew it would be perfect to decorate the area of the house which our rabbits spend their time playing in. But, it would also make a great spring time craft, especially if you throw some spring colours and pretty papers in :)
It was a lovely simply make, textured card from WHSmith, fork pom poms (I still don't love the method, but I tied them slightly differently and trimmed them down, and they worked for this!) and some twine I had to hand - I wanted to use ribbon but I didn't have any in the right colour/length/width combination! Always the way. I enjoy a bit of craftiness decorating the house, and with my husband always in mind, this is cute without being garish!

Alternative Christmas Card || Flopsy & Toffee Sketch
I used to make cards for my husband, for all those events that occur throughout the year. But you know what would happen to them? They'd sit on his desk for a week, before being lost into a pile of "stuff", never to be seen again. And so I started doing something different... I started drawing for him every year, quick sketches which could go in frames and continue to decorate our walls all year round. It's been a win-win for us! This Christmas, his "card" features our gorgeous little bunnies, Flopsy and Toffee...

Granny Rabbits
Yes, really, a post that isn't Christmas related!
I love these little bunnies! I love the ease of the pattern by The Green Dragonfly, I love the colour combinations and their expressions...
And I LOVE their little fluffy tails! (Rather than making a pom pom, I used the muzzle pattern with some fluffy wool, and stitched it on - so cute!)
I am so tempted to make a whole rainbow of these littles ones...

Baby Bunny Crochet & Blanket
I think I'm in love. I came across this crochet pattern over at The Giraffe's Hat, and I knew immediately it would be perfect for my niece's first Birthday!
The pattern is a brilliant free download over at Craftzine (a site I really recommend a look through!)
I crocheted this little bunny in a cream yarn, with felt paws, button eyes, and some vintage fabric ears!
I then made a little blanket to wrap the bunny in, with a simple blanket stitched edging.
I have seriously fallen in love with this bunny... But I've decided to hold off making myself one for now... Soon though!

Crochet Rabbit Blanket
Our Christmas present to our gorgeous rabbits, Toffee and Flopsy, was a blanket crocheted out of string!
Flopsy hiding.
Toffee poking her nose out.
They love throwing it around, chewing it, and snuggling with it! It's also great for covering their food bowl - they have the challenge of moving it to eat!

Christmas Tree VI: Angel Bunny
Lit up on the Christmas Tree
Me and my husband spent a wee while discussing what to have on the top of our Christmas tree. It's our second Christmas together, and last year we had a small glittery star, due to our inability to come up with something unique!
Buttons for eyes and a stitched nose. Maybe he even needs whiskers now I think about it!
I had an idea for a tissue paper star (made in a similar way to my wedding bouquet), but we weren't convinced. I couldn't think of a way to make an angel to the standard in my head, and whilst discussing teddy bears dressed as angels, I remembered these on my "to make" list.
Wings made from gold paper and card, attached with a stitch.
Obviously mine looks fairly different, but it was a nice point of inspiration :) I only had 2/3 of a ball of this wool, and I think I restarted about 6 times as I kept making it too big for the quantity of wool!

And a little fluffy tail :)
As it is, I made the ears from each end of a strand of wool, deeming them finished when there wasn't enough wool to do another stitch on either one! He's now sitting happily on top of our tree :)
I'd love to know - what's on the top of your tree?

See what else is on my Christmas Tree!

Crochet Rabbit Toys
We have two bunnies in our little family, Toffee and Flopsy. and we're always looking for new ideas to entertain them. They have a plastic ball with a bell inside, which Flopsy can pick up with his teeth and throw around, and which Toffee can hold between her paws, and practically dribble with! However, we wanted something which Toffee would also be able to pick up and throw. After a Google search, I came across this pattern, Tiny Crochet Balls, and picked up my nearest crochet hook and a ball of string. A little while and some sawdust later, I had a new bunny toy, which dare I say, they love! (Note: I turned it inside out before stuffing it, as I felt the texture was better for them to grip.)
Having successfully made my first crochet ball, I plucked up the confidence to set about making my own pattern. It was successful, and a short while later, I stuffed it with the pellets they eat for supper, to see if they could fathom it out.
We suspected them to just chew through the string, throw it about, and try to empty it…
Instead, Toffee took it in her front paws, and using her mouth, removed each pellet one by one from between the stitches! It was amazing to watch, and she seemed to get so much enjoyment from it. Flopsy on the other hand… Well. He wasn't quite so keen on working for his supper, and took the throw-it-around-and-hope-for-the-best approach! Between them, they emptied it. Completely. And kindly left it in one piece to be used again! I think Flopsy even eventually learnt Toffee's approach, and had a bit more success!
