Dotty Bird Cross Stitch

Lots to do, lots to do, lots to do... I initially cross stitched this cute little bird (pattern from a magazine) earlier this year, but then due to health reasons it sat on the side for several months before I was well enough to finish it off! I decopaged the embroidery hoop, lined the back with felt, and added some buttons and ribbon. The hoop is approx 11cm in diameter, so it's a smaller piece of work, but I love the spring colours!

Mini Painting: Patch the Cockatiel

Just last month we were devastated to lose our beautiful cockatiel, Patch. Having previously painted him in watercolours (check out my cockatiels tag) with his partners Georgie and JayJay, I wanted to do a small acrylic painting of just him. It's been a while since I had my trusty acrylics out - so long in fact that some of them had dried up! But it was good to get back in to painting, and my husband was thrilled with this small gift to remember a very handsome boy.

Jack, the Sparrow

As I mentioned on Facebook, I have quite a lot of photos to share at the mo! So expect a couple of extra photo posts this week...

You may remember the other month we looked after a baby sparrow after one of our neighbour's cats attacked it? Well, on Saturday I watched both their cats attack again, and went straight to the sparrow's rescue! While we're not sure it's the same sparrow, he was very relaxed round us, and spent a long time just sat with my husband! Amazing.

He's called Jack, if you were wondering. And I think he's safe now.

To give you an idea of how safe he felt around us, all these photos were taken with him perching on my husband. Also, I use a 1:1 lens with no zoom to capture these shots.

Hen Tea Pot Cosy

Hello :)
I mentioned on my last tea pot cosy post, Vintage Owl Tea Pot Cosy that I had another one to start... Well, it's finished! Another bird, but rather different!

This hen tea pot cosy was a Birthday present for my brother in law. He keeps quite a few hens, and they provide lovely fresh eggs :) Some may say he likes them too much, as he has been found sat on the sofa with one before now...!

A textured off white fabric, with splashes of felt for colour!

 Hand stitched details...

And a feathery tail!

With buttons for eyes, and well padded innards, this hen cosy is sure to not only keep the tea warm, but also to peck away anyone who tries to take the last drop!

I love doing custom tea pot cosies... I wonder what will be next?!
