Floral Cards || Mother's Day

Included in the large stash I inherited last year were an array of stickers. Now, I don't normally like using stickers on cards as I think they look cheap, but these stickers are printed on fabric and I think they look absolutely beautiful.

I mounted this sticker on some cream card, cut around it and attached a small pink brad, so it almost looks like a hanging gift card, before mounting on some complementary green card too.

This sticker I mounted on some dark green card before cutting out. I also had this beautiful white and gold tissue paper in my stash which I glued to the main body of the card for some extra texture and interest. I like the combination of gold and green, and the lace and script. I wanted the flowers to pop slightly, so I added some detail with gold Liquid Pearls paint - another new addition to my stash which I think will be getting more use!

(Belated) Mother's Day Cards!

So, I made these back in February for Mother's Day! I knew I wanted simple felt flower based cards, but I was a bit stumped beyond that. I had this flower shape in my folder of templates I've made previously, and I dived into my felt and button collections for complementing colours.

I really didn't know what to do for the background, but with some playing around I came up with this super simple impression of a flower stalk using pearl paper cut outs. It's definitely a technique I intend to use again!

Foxglove for Mother's Day

On the door to my art room I have a beautiful Jemima Puddleduck plaque, and the foxgloves in the background caught my eye whilst thinking about card designs. After a Google, I couldn't find any foxglove designs I liked enough to transform into a card, so I snapped a photo of my plaque, and Photoshopped it into a basic outline. I was then able to use this to create a template for all my paper shapes. It was still horribly fiddly cutting such small pieces of paper, but I think it was a success :)

Mother's Day [Card & Present]

For my Mum on Mother's Day :)

Text printed onto turquoise paper.

Branch cut from the turquoise paper, and owl from pearly paper. Mounted on cream mountboard.

And a matching bookmark :)

I also deisgned this card for my mother and mother in law, love how my new sewing machine makes this possible!
