Tried and Tested Tip Number 8 [Tissue Paper Flowers]

This week, I want to share a tissue paper flower tutorial from the wonderful craft blog, Crafty Little Me.

Rachel shares a great little tutorial to make these flowers from layers of tissue paper. The options are endless, with different coloured tissue papers, painting tissue paper, and holding them together with brads, buttons and beads.

I've used them on several cards over the years, both large as features, and small as accents. I like to use buttons in the centre, stitched together with clear thread. You can choose how ruffled you want the petals, too.

I really enjoyed making them, and I highly recommend her tutorial. Check it out here! A great accessory for any card, on any present, or to brighten up your project.

[Apologies for slightly poorer photo quality, I dipped into my archives for these!]

Dipping Into The Archives

I can't wait for the next 5 days to pass for my life to start again... In the mean time, here's an older photo to brighten things up :)

Hand Stitched Cards

A recent post over at Freckled Nest was my inspiration for these cards...

This first one was for my father in law's Birthday (the font is "Sweetly Broken").

And this card was another one for my husband's Birthday.

For those who don't know, Happy Birthday is written in the Star Wars language Basic! Things have got very geeky round here recently...!

Such a simple but effective technique, really love it!

Envelopes Card

This is the Birthday card I made for my husband. Eight small origami envelopes, mounted on a piece of A5 card.

I got the idea from here, and there's even a little tutorial over there! The only real change I made was a small piece of double sided sticky tape to hold the "diamond" down to help keep them closed and keep their form.

The great thing about this design, is you can slip little messages inside each envelope - it's like getting loads of cards in one!
