Hen Tea Pot Cosy

Hello :)
I mentioned on my last tea pot cosy post, Vintage Owl Tea Pot Cosy that I had another one to start... Well, it's finished! Another bird, but rather different!

This hen tea pot cosy was a Birthday present for my brother in law. He keeps quite a few hens, and they provide lovely fresh eggs :) Some may say he likes them too much, as he has been found sat on the sofa with one before now...!

A textured off white fabric, with splashes of felt for colour!

 Hand stitched details...

And a feathery tail!

With buttons for eyes, and well padded innards, this hen cosy is sure to not only keep the tea warm, but also to peck away anyone who tries to take the last drop!

I love doing custom tea pot cosies... I wonder what will be next?!

Tried and Tested Tip Number 3 [Stash Organisation]

It's ok, you can be honest. I know your ribbon stash looks like this:

What? It doesn't? Oh... I suppose I do live in slight chaos...

People think I'm crazy for saving the amount of things I do. Take this for example...

Me and my husband devoured the contents of this between us back when we got engaged in 2009, and I held on to it. And with good reason! Boxes like this are brilliant for organising stashes/collections. Be it paintbrushes, paints, pens and pencils, sewing stuff, or tangled collections of ribbons.

Just sit down and slowly wind each and every ribbon up...

And you have one organised stash :) Which I may have now banned myself from using. I don't want it to end up in a mess again ;)

How do you keep yourself organised? I'd love to hear!

Have you got a Tip (or even a simple tutorial) you'd like me to feature? Drop me an email (link in my profile), and if I try it, test it, and decide to feature it, you will receive a 20% discount off your next order (excl. P&P) from my shop! Go on, what have you got to lose?

Little White Flowers

It's been a while since I posted any photography on here, I'm not really sure why... I'm going to try and share a photo or two with you once a fortnight - alternating with Tried and Tested :)

The Art of the Printing Press

Part of my Dad's type collection.

If you were following my blog back before I joined blogspot, you might remember a post I did about my Dad's Arab Platen Printing Press. (If you haven't seen it, go have a look at it with bigger pictures here - it's a fascinating insight into a world long forgotten.)

So, why do I mention it now? Well, my Dad was on Britain's Heritage Heroes on BBC2 tonight. You can see John Craven and Jules Hudson arrive at Gwasg G (one of the multiple places Dad helps out with) at about 12:07, and my Dad comes on about 15:10, and helps John Craven print his name using a proofing press! Very exciting to see the art of the printing press being given time on TV.

Using my Dad's printing press at my parent's house.

Tried and Tested Tip Number 2 [Photoshop]

Sometimes, no matter how careful you are, a few (or more!) photos will end up with wonky horizons.

This week, I want to share with you a video made by Ice Flow Studios, designed to make your life and my life that bit easier. Have a look...

If you're anything like me, you've been doing this the long way round ALL THIS TIME. Well, take a second, find a wonky photo, and try the straighten tool - it's worth it.

It's also worth mentioning that in your history panel it will come up as the straightening and then the cropping, so you can always do a simple undo and do the crop yourself.

Star Trek Badge

I love doing custom projects! This was for a friend's recent 21st Birthday...

Star Trek badge, made with felt, handstitched and with a brooch back. It's quite chunky and tactile, and makes a nice little statement about yourself ;)
